Academic Olympics
4000 students + 22 schools + 200 teachers = 40% improvement in exam scores
We Build Community to Improve Education
Most of our students attend remote schools that dot the mountains of southeast Haiti. These schools operate independently, with no formal school district. The educators and community leaders in the region have worked to overcome this challenge and promote regional academic strength and success. With Alliance for Haiti’s Children, they created the Academic Olympics.
The Academic Olympics, known as Genie Interscolaire, is a student academic competition based on the National Curriculum that has produced astounding results for the participating students.
Principals from all over the mountains work together with community leaders, teachers and parents to challenge students and celebrate their achievements. Students from 22 schools throughout the mountains were able to improve their scores on the national exams by up to 40 percent.
